Why shared leads stopped working
Why did leads from Angi and HomeAdvisor dry up?
In January 2025, Angi, the company behind Angi and HomeAdvisor, fully rolled out a change it calls homeowner choice. In its Q3 2025 results, Angi reported service requests from its network channels down 67% and leads from those channels down 81%, year over year.

What Angi reported
These are Angi's own numbers, in thousands, for July through September 2025 against the same quarter of 2024.
| Measure | Q3 2025 | Q3 2024 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Service requests, network channels | 353 | 1,075 | Down 67% |
| Leads, network channels | 495 | 2,597 | Down 81% |
| Service requests, all channels | 4,144 | 4,490 | Down 8% |
| Leads, all channels | 5,441 | 6,867 | Down 21% |
Angi says the drop came from "the full implementation of homeowner choice in January 2025." Network channels are, in Angi's words, where "consumers are presented with Angi Pros through a third party website experience." Leads from Angi's own sites and apps grew 16% in the same quarter. So the drop hit the network leads, not every lead Angi sells.

What a shared lead means for you
Angi defines it plainly: "a single Service Request can result in multiple Leads." One homeowner asks for help, and more than one pro can pay for that same request.
It is a race to call first. Every pro who bought the lead is dialing the same homeowner. You pay for the lead whether you get through first or fourth.
It pushes your price down. A homeowner holding several quotes has an easy way to choose: the lowest one. The job gets smaller before you have seen it.
It splits your close rate. The same request is being worked by other pros, so some of the jobs you would have booked go to them. You still paid for every lead.
What a single-contractor territory changes
TrustedLocals licenses one company per service per territory. A request from a ZIP in your territory, for your service, goes to you alone. TrustedLocals does not sell it to anyone else.
You pay one flat monthly license, not a fee per lead. There is no one to race and no stack of competing quotes from pros who bought the same request.
TrustedLocals is new and does not promise a number of calls or booked jobs. To see how the flat fee compares with buying shared leads, read what an exclusive territory costs against shared leads.
